Pringle of Scotland and CSM Fashion launch the Pringle Archive Project 1815–2011

The Pringle Archive

As a first step to cultivating an archive of its 196 year history, Pringle have teamed up with Central Saint Martins to reconnect with its past to create an essential design resource.

The Pringle Archive Project launched with two simultaneous projects. BA Fashion History and Theory pathway students researched and catalogued the existing company archive. Under the direction of Professor Louise Wilson OBE, MA Fashion students designed a collection of knitwear inspired by the iconic archive, working alongside Pringle of Scotland’s specialised knitwear craftspeople. Twelve archive inspired designs have been specifically chosen for international distribution – these will be presented on a global retail event tour later in 2011.

Both projects launched in February 2011 during London Fashion Week. The completion of a comprehensive archive and the development of future re-issues of iconic vintage styles and original Scottish manufacturing techniques will continue.
